Administrative Assistant
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Position: 16 Hours Per Week, Hourly Non-Exempt
Job Summary
This part-time position will devote energy and action to assisting in the implementation of the mission, vision and values for First United by providing administrative support to staff and laity. The essential functions of this job are to assist the ministries of First United by managing the First United on-site office and providing our ministries with administrative and clerical support.
Education/Experience
High School diploma
Proven experience in clerical or administration roles
Short-term on-the-job training
Knowledge
English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Job Description
Produce weekly mass email communications via Constant Contact or other email marketing solution.
Manage membership database system including: edits, attendance, and visitor management. Keep ministry and worship attendance reports up to date.
Review office supply inventory and purchase supplies as necessary.
Ensure proper maintenance and repair is coordinated for copiers, folders, postage machines, and coordinate computer technical support.
Train and supervise volunteers that staff the reception desk during regular business hours. Work at reception desk in volunteer absences which includes, but is not limited to, answering the phone, answering guest questions and facilitating mail/package deliveries.
Provide clerical assistance to all First United ministries as needed.
Perform editing, proofreading of church communications on a regular basis.
Assist Growth Group and spiritual growth classes with ordering supplies and materials.
Organize staff retreats, events, parties and other functions.
Manage church building usage calendar, campus event calendar and ensure rooms are setup and ready for use.
Coordinate with volunteer teams for assistance with applicable tasks.
Accountable for operating office budget and expenses.
Office responsibilities include some participation in regular in-person meetings/events and securing the campus, occasionally at the end of the business day.

GATHERKIDS Coordinator
Reports To: The Gathering Place Pastor
The Gathering Place, Part Time
Job Summary: The GatherKids Coordinator helps lead and shape ministry for children (birth through 5th grade) and their families at The Gathering Place. This part-time role focuses on creating engaging, inclusive, and faith-forming experiences for kids, supporting parents and caregivers, and equipping volunteers to serve with love and excellence. You’ll help families find community, help kids encounter God through play and story, and help our church live out our mission — one Sunday and one family at a time.
Education and Experience
A heart for children & families and a commitment to The Gathering Place mission.
Experience in children’s ministry, education, or event coordination.
Strong organizational, communication, and team-building skills.
Ability to recruit, train, and empower volunteers.
Creative, dependable, flexible, and collaborative.
Familiarity with United Methodism and Wesleyan theology preferred.
Knowledge
English Language

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Sunday Worship Gathering:
Coordinate childcare workers and volunteers for the nursery (ages 0–3) and volunteers for kids’ class (Pre-K–5th grade) which meet during worship.
Regularly teach or assist in kids’ class and serve in the nursery on Sunday mornings to provide balance and relief to volunteers.
Prepare materials, activities, and lessons each week using developmentally appropriate and inclusive curriculum.
Ensure classroom, nursery, and “pray-ground” in the worship center are safe, welcoming, and well-prepared.
Curriculum & Program Development:
Plan and adapt creative teaching content that helps kids explore faith, wonder, and belonging through Wesleyan and United Methodist theology.
Resource and train volunteers to lead and assist effectively and confidently.
Organize supplies and materials needed for all weekly GatherKids programs.
Community & Family Engagement:
Build relationships with parents, guardians, and families within the church and in our larger Daytona/Volusia community.
Support families in faith formation at home with family-oriented faith resources and communication, connection, and encouragement.
Help represent The Gathering Place at family-friendly community events and gatherings in Daytona Beach and across Volusia County.
Special Events & Seasonal Ministry:
Coordinate planning and execution of major annual events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Back-to-School Breakfast, and Adventure Week (VBS), as schedule permits.
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to create meaningful, fun, and inclusive events for families throughout the year (movie night, parents night out, etc.).
Overall Church Ministry and Policies:
Assist with and lead in additional ministries, services, and events in or through The Gathering Place/First United.
Understanding of and strict adherence to the First United Child and Youth Protection Policies, managing volunteers’ CYP screening processes.
Coordinate and consult with First United Family Ministries Director.

The GatherKids Coordinator will focus on kids and family ministries primarily at The Gathering Place, but employment will be through First United.
