Caring Ministries

  • Caregivers Day Out

Our monthly senior adult respite program offers activities, snacks, and lunch, providing caregivers with five hours for themselves. Adults with disabilities are also welcome to join, enjoying a safe and welcoming environment at First United.

  • Caring Cards

A group of volunteers that gathers monthly to hand-write get well, sympathy, encouragement, and thinking of you cards for First United members and families.

  • Grief Share

A 13-week group program featuring biblical concepts for healing and is open to church members and the community. Grief Share supports and encourages those dealing with the loss of a loved one. This program is offered twice a year.

  • Hospital Visitations

Offers comfort, compassion and encouragement to patients and their families at hospitals through visitations, communion, prayer and anointing by our trained ministry team volunteers.

  • Mary & Martha Ministry

Provides small simple meals for families or individuals during or following a medical circumstance such as returning home from the hospital, a short-term illness, or a new baby.

  • Memorial Receptions

Provides a caring and loving reception time for families and their guests following a funeral or memorial service that is held here at First United.

  • Prayer Team

Every week this team prays for every concern submitted on a prayer card or emailed to us.

  • Warm Spirits

Each year the Warm Spirits ministry knits and crochets hat and scarf sets that are mailed to the Red Bird Methodist Mission in Appalachia. They also knit and crochet prayer shawls for hospital and home visits by our Congregational Care team and for the vets at the Barracks of Hope. This busy group also makes baby hats, booties and shawls for Advent Hospital.

We work continuously on our projects throughout the year and gather monthly to review projects, except during the summer.

Knitters and crocheters of all levels of skill are welcome to join us.
