In 1952, a group of 52 adventurous people decided to take a 'giant leap of faith.'  They began meeting in a vacant home at 139 Valencia Drive.  Mrs. Sadie Bleekman led a movement to have a Methodist Church organized in Ormond Beach.  By the next year, the congregation grew to 80 people and their desire to spread the love of God raised the roof of the first building, our current Fellowship Hall at the Halifax Campus.

By September, 1955, the congregation had grown to more than 300 people whose lives had been changed by the life of Christ.  A mere two years later, the worshippers increased to 600-plus.  By 1992, the congregation had gone through a name change and added several buildings, all because they refused to freeze time and continued to share with new people how much they matter to God.  1999 was a year of praying, planning and discussing the future vision of First United.  Our direction for spiritual growth was clarified by the adoption of the 5Keys to building a healthy church and the development of our core values.
