Prayer Ministry The purpose of the Prayer Ministry is to provide a spiritual foundation of support for both the ministries of our church and for the growth towards God's kingdom work in our community and the world.
The Prayer Ministry activities are geared toward motivating and equipping our members to participate in personal and corporate prayer. Prayer is our means of touching the heart of God and inviting Him to move among us. People are invited to participate in the activities and, if moved by God, to be a part of the team that sustains these activities.
The First United Prayer Room is a sanctuary for individual and small group prayer. Participants sign up for weekly participation, one hour at a time, at the same time each week. Prayer is lifted up to God for individual needs from the congregation, church leaders, our community, our nation and our world. You would be welcome to participate in this peaceful and meaningful gift each week. Also feel free to contribute prayer requests at the church office, in the weekly offering plate during all our worship services, or you can submit a prayer request to smelveen@firstunited.org Pre-Worship Prayers Sundays at 8:30 am, pre-worship prayers are periods set aside for brief prayers with the pastor 30 minutes prior to worship. These sessions are open to anyone moved to join in lifting up our pastors and the worship services for God's blessings. Midweek Prayer & Communion Wednesdays, 6:00 - 6:30 pm This thirty minute period is set aside each week for people to gather in the sanctuary for meditation and prayer and to participate in Holy Communion. Healing prayers and anointing are offered by clergy and lay leaders. If you'd like to help, we need greeters, communion stewards, and lay pastors. If you are interested in more information or would like to serve on the team please contact Sherry McElveen at (386) 677-3581, ext. 311 or e-mail: smcelveen@firstunited.org.
Praise be to GOD!! "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16
