The purpose of First United is to be an authentic Christian community inviting and developing people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Our Values

The core values of the First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach portray who we are as a church, what we are striving to become as a church, and what we expect from each other as followers of Christ. The Word of God is the source of our value system, and we embrace the following core values:

• Spiritual growth through Bible study and prayer is essential to the equipping and discipling of our church family.
  
• We should be led by people with the spiritual gift of leadership who are accountable to the Word of God.
• Spiritual growth and life-shaping experiences most likely occur in accountable relationships provided by small groups.
• The discipline of tithing is a critical component of spiritual growth revealing God's ownership of all that we have and our gratitude for His love.
• People matter to us because people matter to God.
• The servant ministry of Jesus is the model for our ministries.
• Every transformed person is given gifts for ministry and their ministry should be appropriate to their gifts.
• Church tasks and ministries conceived and conducted in the expectation of honoring God, promote excellence and draw people to Christ.
• Loving, Christ-centered relationships are more important than any task at hand.
• The church must speak to and meet people's needs without compromising Biblical integrity.
