Active Singles . . . your way to get connected with God and others! Are you single in a world that seems full of couples? First United's church family includes you, whether you are widowed, divorced, or happily single by choice! Several of our small groups are devoted specifically to single adults, but nearly all of the group ministries of our church are blended with singles and couples. We know how hard it can be to deal with day-to-day life as a single parent or when you are reeling from the loss of a spouse; so whether you choose to get support in a group, (at Genesis Counseling Center here on church premises), or simply by worshiping as part of our church family, know that you are welcome at First United! Please check out the listing of small groups in our Weekly program available in worship to learn more about connecting to a group or class that will meet your needs for fellowship and growth.
Are you looking for a place to enjoy the company of other single adults? Do you want to jump into a variety of diverse activities with both feet . . . canoeing, dining, sightseeing? The list goes on and on!
The Active Singles offer a very low key, relaxed environments for you to connect with other Christian adult singles. This is not a dating ministry, a Bible study nor a group with any requirements for participation other than being a single adult.
We gather for dinner at various area restaurants to sit, eat, and chat as lightheartedly or as intent as we choose. Once a month, usually on a Saturday, we plan an event such as tubing down a lazy river, biking, kayaking, or enjoying one of the organized events in Volusia and surrounding counties.
From this wonderful connection to other Christians we are likely to come together spontaneously when opportunities arise for serving the church, the community, and particularly other singles in need. Because singleness allows one to be active in a variety of different ministries, such as Stephen Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, Halifax Urban Ministry, missions, music & children or youth ministries. Connecting with the Active Singles may help fuel your passion to serve as the Spirit prompts you.
We are not age specific and invite all to come to any of our gatherings. You'll see our activities announced on the screens and in the Weekly program during worship service; please know that you are welcome at any and all of them!
